Camping has changed a lot since 1973, when Portage Toyota and RV started out as Portage Leisure Centre. But some things – important things – have stayed the same, such as the family ownership and operation of the business and its commitment to providing a comfortable, accessible experience for customers.

“Over the years, trailers have become a home away from home,” reflects Adam Trudeau, General Manager at Portage Toyota & RV. “All the amenities are now with you while camping.”

Families and couples no longer have to sacrifice comfort while travelling or at their seasonal site, although before they get into RV-ing it’s important they know the sort of experience they’re hoping to have. For example, frequent road-trippers may prefer a smaller unit to maneuver into the different campsites they’ll find, while seasonal campers might want a bigger trailer for their property.

A potential bonus for seasonal units, Trudeau explains, is that owners don’t necessarily have to invest in a truck or other towing vehicle, as the trailer will stay put. And his staff can even deliver a new trailer to its seasonal site.

It’s all part of the customer-centered approach at Portage Toyota & RV.

“As a small-town, family-run business, we operate differently than your average dealership,” says Trudeau. “Customer service is our top priority. There are no games, no hidden fees, and all trades are accepted. And we won’t knowingly be undersold.”

Return customers, first-time buyers and curious individuals who just want to kick the tires will all find the same atmosphere at Portage Toyota & RV, located at 2633 Saskatchewan Ave W in Portage la Prairie. That is, they won’t encounter any sales pressure, and all the trailers are always on display and open for viewing.

With the camping season closely approaching, Trudeau highlights the selection of Puma RVs in stock at the dealership.

“We have everything from family units with bunk beds to couples’ units with open layouts,” he says. “All of them have the sought-after outside kitchen.”

There is also an RV Clearout sale on now at Portage Toyota & RV. Prices on all new Puma trailers have been reduced by more than $10,000, and each unit comes with a free start-up kit. As always, there are no additional or hidden fees.

And Portage Toyota & RV’s renowned customer service doesn’t end when the trailer leaves the lot.

“Our factory-trained technicians ensure your summer keeps on rolling,” says Trudeau. “Timely repairs are so important with the seasonal business.”

Portage Toyota & RV is open Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. They can be reached by calling (204) 857-7874, and their inventory can be browsed online by visiting their website.
