On Sunday, May 19, we will be at the Family Bike Jam, hosted by Strong Towns Steinbach.
The ride begins at E.A. Friesen Park and will start at 3pm for approximately two hours.
One of the organizers, Wade Wiebe says, “We organize it to get folks off their screens and it’s a great excuse to get outside with your family.”
There will be a break point halfway through the ride where nutritious snacks will be provided, as well as a giveaway.
The ride is family friendly and riders under 18 are required to wear a helmet.
“It’s going to be a slow, safe ride for people of all ages,” explains Wiebe. “We’re really focusing on accessibility for everybody. People of all ages and abilities.”
LaBikequerie will have tools and pumps on hand for any mechanical problems.
Wiebe discusses how this ride is the perfect way for children and beginners to learn about the rules of the road and safety regarding bike riding.
“The best way to be introduced to it or to experience it, is with a group where you really are safe.”
If you are unable to make it this weekend, do not worry. Family Bike Jam will take place every third Sunday over the summer months.
Grab a bike, a friend, and enjoy the outdoors.
