Alvin and Walter Hildebrand, along with the entire team at Hydro Ag Supply, are looking forward to visiting with existing and prospective customers while highlighting their range of equipment at their upcoming Open House/Customer Appreciation Day.
On Saturday, June 1, between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Hydro Ag will be serving a BBQ lunch at their 425, MB-12 location in Steinbach. Everyone is invited – not only to enjoy the lunch, but also to try out some of the equipment.
“We’ll have some door prizes, too, as well as a little bit of entertainment,” adds Alvin, who along with brother Walter is a Hydro Ag co-owner. “And if you’ve never tried a Mahindra tractor, this would be a good time to test one out.”
In addition to the tractors, guests will also have the chance to test drive the NEW Mahindra Roxor side-by-sides and Country Clipper zero-turn mowers.
“The Roxor is like an off-road diesel work horse, a glorified side-by-side,” Alvin explains. The Country Clipper, meanwhile, is a dream mower that handles almost like a skid steer.
“It can turn on a dime,” says Alvin. “It’s got the nice joystick: push forward, goes forward; a little bit to the left, it’ll go a little bit to the left. And it’s got a nice flip-up deck as well. You can actually flip up the deck and get underneath to clean and sharpen the blades, or do any maintenance you want to do.”
Hydro Ag prides itself on carrying innovative implements, but it’s a commitment to honesty and exceptional customer service that has allowed the dealership to grow alongside an ever-changing industry.
“Obviously equipment is changing. It’s getting bigger and maybe more efficient,” says Walter. “But we still like to do things on our handshake, or maybe a phone call, which is maybe not so common nowadays. But that’s how we operate.”
Walter also points out that Hydro Ag has the largest selection of hydraulic fittings and adapters in southeast Manitoba, and that the company still manufactures and sells liquid manure equipment – which is how he and his brother started out.
“We manufacture and sell liquid manure applicators, pull-types from 32’ to 70’ wide, as well as hose reel carts and Cornell pump units for dairy and hog farmers,” he says. “That’s how we started Hydro Ag Supply, and it’s just branched out from there.”
The breadth of implements and service on offer at Hydro Ag means there’s never really a slow season at the dealership, but the staff take considerable pride in working alongside local producers year-round.
“Alvin and I own the company, we grew up in the area and now our children work here,” says Walter. “We believe in local, and we’re proud to be a local company.”
Adds Alvin: “Another thing about being local is we get to know our customers and to know their needs as well. It’s more than just selling equipment; it’s providing our customers with a service, and that’s where we see the joy in it. We want to see their farms succeed and their own family businesses grow.”
Which is why Alvin, Walter and everyone at Hydro Ag Supply is excited to host the community at their Open House on June 1.
“It’s a customer appreciation day,” says Walter. “And if you’ve never been to Hydro Ag Supply, just come and check it out.”
