Main Street and 6th Avenue were filled with music as the musical consortium of Brian Grest, Walter Bushman and Darron Sommer filled the hot summer air with great summer sound. It was the latest summer barbecue sponsored by Humboldt Cultural Services. All proceeds go to supporting cultural programming.
Along with those great burgers, the trio fed the crowd a steady diet of folk, pop and soft rock classics from their musical menu. Of course, Gord Lightfoot was well represented with timeless tunes like ‘Cotton Jenny’ and ‘Sundown.’ Brian Grest’s rendition of the protest song ‘Eve of Destruction’ is a fan favourite.
Drummer Darron Sommer, in what may well be his final performance with the gang, stepped forward for his version of Green Day’s ‘Time of Your Life’ and a stripped-down acoustic version of ‘Times Like These’ for Foo Fighters Fans.
Stay tuned for more summertime street fun and upcoming programming from the City’s Cultural Services Department.
