Celebrating their 55th annual awards show the Gospel Music Association (GMA) has released its list of nominations.
Brandon Lake released his album Coat of Many Colors in October of 2023. Because of this album and the songs, Lake has been nominated for 16 Dove Awards this year including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year. That is the most nominations one artist has ever received for the Dove Awards.
"I'm literally mind-blown," says Lake in a video call with Tauren Wells, who gave him the news over Facetime. "I'm so honoured. I love what I get to do. You know it, man, you know it well. It's an honour to be a part of songs that are changing people's lives."
Coming in with the second most nominations is Jeff Pardo, a Christian songwriter, with 11 nominations. Taking in 10 nominations each are Chris Brown (of Elevation Worship), Chandler Moore (of Maverick City Music) and Jonathan Smith.
"I love this moment each year when we get to announce our nominees," says GMA President Jackie Patillo. "The Dove Awards are about spreading the message in our music with the world and honoring the work of the amazing artists, songwriters, producers, and film & TV creators in our great community. I’m thrilled for this year’s nominees and can’t wait to celebrate in October."
Cece Winans has the most nominations for female artists this year with five, and coming in right behind is Anne Wilson with four.
The Dove Awards will take place on October 4 at the Allen Arena in Nashville, TN. The event will be hosted by Christian artist Tauren Wells for the second consecutive year.
