Following Greg Laurie's Harvest Crusade, which included filling a football stadium with 50,000 people, roughly 2,000 decided to get baptized after giving their lives to Jesus.
Laurie is the pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in California. His life went to the big screen in the movie Jesus Revolution, which depicted the Jesus movement back in the 70s in California where thousands were baptized at the now infamous Pirates Cove.
In 2023 Laurie baptised 4,500 people at Pirate's Cove. On July 27, 2024, Laurie baptized 2,000 more after roughly 5,000 prayed the 'Sinner's Prayer' during the Harvest Crusade.
Pirate’s Cove, where we did our baptism today has a lot of memories for me. Not only was I baptized here myself, but it’s the place where I gave my first evangelistic message. It was like a ‘sneak-peek’ of what I would do later in my life. Check it out! pic.twitter.com/N1TVBwHAeZ

"Baptism at Pirate’s Cove! What a great day! Glory to God. We baptized 2000 people!" says Laurie on X. "I see that God is working. As you know the last great spiritual awakening, the Jesus Movement, happened in California, and we're praying, 'Lord, do it again.'"
Just a few months ago, on May 18 and 19, Mark Francey ended up baptizing 12,000 people in the ocean at Huntington Beach. This has been recorded as the largest baptism in history.
"This little spot here has a lot of memories for me," says Laurie. "I was baptized here, my wife Kathy was baptized here as well."
