An eight-time Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star is asking fans for prayer after finding out that his three-year-old son is suffering from Guillain-Barre syndrome, a rare neurological disorder when the immune system damages the peripheral nervous system.
Freddie Freeman plays for the Los Angeles Dodgers recently took to Instagram in a joint post with his wife Chelsea, to share a glimpse of what his family is currently going through.
"Last Friday, Max rapidly declined and went into full body paralysis. We are very fortunate to have gotten him to the hospital in time so they could reinforce his lungs," the post started.
While Freddie was in Houston with the Dodgers at the time, he quickly got on the next available flight to be with his young family.
"After many tests, Max is battling a severe case of Guillain-Barré syndrome. A rare neurological condition that is especially rare in children. These have been the hardest and scariest days of our lives," the post continued.
While the Freeman's know that it is going to be a long road, they have faith that their son will be healed. "This is going to be a journey to recover, but we have faith that he will be completely healed," the post went on to say. "We believe in the power of prayer and we have been witnessing a miracle in his recovery. Please continue to cover Maximus and our family in your prayers. We really appreciate and have felt all of your support."
Over the last 48 hours, they shared that Maximus has made big progress to recovery. "Maximus was excavated from his breathing tube and taken off of the ventilator yesterday, which is a huge win for us."
The comment section was flooded showing support and prayers for the Freeman family. "In the name of Jesus," one read.
Another comment said, "He will recover in the name of Jesus 🙏🏾 I pray!"
Freeman is currently on the family emergency list.
