Do you have a crack in your windshield? How many days, weeks, or months have gone by since you promised you’d get that fixed? Windshield repairs and replacements for southeastern Manitobans have never been easier since Country Acres Auto and Glass came to town.

Kevin Messerschmidt worked at a Steinbach body shop for the last decade before deciding to start his own business- Country Acres Auto and Glass. He saw that many people south of Steinbach would drive into the city for glass replacement and repairs, and thought that the area could be greatly benefited by windshield and glass services a little closer to home. Today, he is the owner of a fully MPI-accredited glass shop just out of town.

“I figured it would make sense to have a location south of Steinbach,” Messerschmidt says. “And to also offer mobile glass services. I do an approximate 15 mile range from Sarto. So Blumenort, Grunthal, and Marchand. I could even do Vita. All free of charge.”

While he’s only been in business for a matter of months, people across the southeast have been using this service frequently.

Messerschmidt notes that people dropping off and picking up vehicles at his shop on Borland Road are also welcome to say hi to the many animals he has on his hobby farm.

“It’s another reason I wanted to start my own business- I wanted to be home with family or on the farm, and this was the way to make that happen.”

Customers will also likely come across one or two tiny but eager helpers- Messerschmidt’s sons, who are already very interested in the trade. Unfortunately for them, they are still a little too young to be taken on as apprentices.

Messerschmidt’s passion for automotive excellence is clear. Beyond removing the safety hazard that damaged windshields pose, he says he appreciates seeing the exterior of the vehicle come together once again after repairs.

“If the windshield is cracked, it makes the whole vehicle look quite bad. So by simply putting a new windshield in, you’re not only making visibility from the inside a lot clearer, you’re also upping the appearance of the vehicle.”

Since no one likes dealing with glass claims and repairs, Messerschmidt will open a claim and deal with MPI for you. He is also sweetening the experience so every new customer will receive a $25 gift card of their choosing. In addition, every referral to Country Acres will receive a $25 gift card.

Country Acres Auto and Glass is located, as the name suggests, down a couple country roads. The address is 26080 Borland Road, eight miles south of Steinbach.
