Marchand hosted their 3rd annual Smokin’ Summer Charity Ribb-Off today and 14 amazing contestants put out their best ribs to be judged.
Many brought out family and friends to help prepare for the day and some teams began cooking at 7:30am to have the ribs smoked to perfection by 5:30pm.
Tickets for the rib dinner sold out and everyone enjoyed the delicious meal with friends and family.
There were also bouncy castles and face painting for the kids, and cornhole for everyone to enjoy.
All proceeds from the day went to the Robb Nash Project and Robb Nash shares what his foundation is all about.
“The Robb Nash Project, we play music, and we tour the country. We work with at-risk youth and with communities that have seen their young people struggling with mental health and addiction issues. We've been going from coast to coast in Canada and being raised right here in Manitoba myself, it's always good to be home and seeing impact happening right here at home.”
Nash says it’s incredible to see the community come together and raise money for a great cause. He was mingling with the contestants all afternoon and loved every minute of it.
“I love what's happening here today. This is our third time we've done this, third annual and I've always said sometimes tragedy can happen in a community, and it can tear people apart. Sometimes it can bring people together and you’re in southern Manitoba, there was a tragedy, and it could have torn people apart, but instead, the community said, let's get together, partnered together with the Robb Nash Project and they've raised so much money. Just last year alone they raised over $16,000 which allows us to get into the communities, into the schools with our curriculum and our live shows and helping impact the community.”
He shares that they will have shows coming up in Winnipeg and to find out more information, visit his website, robbnash.ca.
