June Bartel owns J&K Petals & Paints. Her daughter Karen Newberry owns KMN Bombshell Beauty Studio. And together their commitment to customer service with kindness has served them well as they serve the community from their location inside the Carlton Trail Mall in Lanigan.
This past March, J&K Petals & Paints celebrated their 29th year in business. Over the past few decades, June has seen a lot of change.
“We originally started out as Sears, and then we added Benjamin Moore Paints and flowers, and we've been here serving the community ever since!”
Of course, Benjamin Moore is one of the best-selling paints in the country, and after 29 years of selling the popular, high-quality paint, June is quite knowledgeable on the subject. However, J&K Petals & Paints provides so much more – with floral arrangements, home décor, and wedding rentals.

Offering top-notch customer service runs in the family. The mother-daughter team began working together when Karen was still in high school. After graduation, she became a Journeyperson Cosmetologist and Hair Stylist. Around that time, Sears vacated the space, which was the perfect opportunity for Karen to open KNM Bombshell Beauty Studio.
“I offer all types of hair services, lash extensions, basic waxing, nails – I also do permanent makeup – eyeliner and eyebrows. My two most popular services are my hair services and lash extensions,” notes Karen.
The popularity of KMN Bombshell Beauty is evident online, where clients express gratitude for the services she provides, close to home.
“I love just spending time with my clients. Their time is just as precious as mine and I just truly am blessed to have clients sit in my chair and allow me to bring out their inner beauty.”

“I also dabble in photography, so I’m kind of a jack-of-all-trades – which I guess learned from my mom.”
