The Strathmore Lions Splash Park has closed for the season, just slightly ahead of schedule.

It was a short season for the splash park, which had first closed in early June as Strathmore implemented Stage 4 water restrictions following an emergency water main break in Calgary.

The splash park reopened in early July as the town eased restrictions. However, as work has resumed on the Bearspaw South Feeder Main, Stage 4 restrictions were put back in place on August 26.

With the repairs expected to last until late September, the town has announced on its website that the splash park is now closed for the season.

The splash park normally operates from July 1 until September 1 and has been a staple in Strathmore since opening in 2009.
