Dozens of students were baptized last week at a Texas university.

Approximately 1,500 students gathered at the Corpus Christi campus of Texas A&M University on August 29, 2024.

New Life Church pastors Michael and Bonnie Fehlauer posted to Facebook celebrating the event organized by the church's young adult ministry which is also a recognized student organization at the Texas A&M Corpus Christi campus.

Young adults Pastor, Tarik Whitmore shared a message at the gathering focussed on Isaiah 6

“This was followed by testimonies from students and former students — sharing how God saved them, set them free, healed them physically, and is now using them to change the lives of others,” Whitmore said to The Christian Post.

“As the altar was opened, there was an invitation given to profess faith in Jesus through water baptism, receive prayer for healing and receive prayer for the baptism of the Holy Spirit.”

Many event organizers witnessed others being touched by the power of God, according to Whitmore. It included 62 baptisms with several individuals weeping and trembling as they were coming up out of the water.

"Several students and young adults shared testimonies of salvation, healing, deliverence, and being filled with the Spirit," Whitmore said.

The night wrapped up with the students asking God to use them in their college journey.

The event saw a rise in attendance from September 2023 with New Life Church held a similar gathering which brought approximately 1,000 people.

Whitmore said the biggest difference between the two years was the increase in the activity of the Holy Spirit.

Days before the gathering many students including part of the university's football team, participated in a revival event at Ohio State University.
