A ministry in the West End is gearing up for a special night to celebrate a big milestone.
For 55 years, Living Bible Explorers has been providing weekly programs for Grades one through 12, lunch club, drop-ins, teens nights, family retreats, and summer camps.
To celebrate the years, LBE is hosting a special event. "On Saturday, September 28, we're going to be at Grant Memorial Church," LBE Executive Director, Cher Paulson said. "We're going to have a dessert extravaganza."
Paulson said, "We're going to have a sit-down, banquet-style dessert night. We have different bakeries and people who donated some high-end fancy stuff."
The goal of the night is to, "Meet each other and connect with one another. It'll be a great time of friends and family around tables and celebrating what God has done in Living Bible Explorers and what He will do."
Participants will also get an inside look of what is to come in the fall for Living Bible Explorers. "Maybe we can get into the life of a family that a church couldn't, and we can be that bridge of evangelism and help a family to get them to the place where they want to be discipled and then connect them with the life of a local church."
While tickets are free to reserve, Paulson says, "We're giving the opportunity for people to be table sponsors so that we can offer free tickets. When somebody comes to the fundraiser, they're able to just freely give whatever they're able to give. We don't all have the same, it's not equal giving but equal sacrifice. I want them to be able to give to the ministry whatever they have. So that's where the table sponsors come in because if they can help us pay for the entire evening before we get there, I love at a fundraiser to stand up and say all the costs of the evening have been already cared for. So, we're just going to allow God to do a miracle here."

The dessert extravaganza is at Grant Memorial Church, 877 Wilkes Avenue on Saturday, September 28, 2024. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. before dessert starts at 7 p.m.
