For the first time in over a week, the City of Calgary says water usage is in the green zone.

Construction is ongoing on the Bearspaw South Feeder Main.

Strathmore gets its water from Calgary and has been following the lead of the city by bringing in Stage 4 outdoor water restrictions.

"We know the water restrictions have been frustrating, but you really are making a difference," says the Town of Strathmore in a recent Facebook post.

People can help conserve water by keeping showers short to three minutes or less and only running full loads of laundry and dishes.

Residents in Calgary, Strathmore, Chestermere, and other municipalities used 481 million litres of water on Tuesday (Sept 10). The city says operations at the Glenmore Water Treatment Plant can now be run sustainably.

Repair work on Shouldice Park and 33 Ave has been completed on 12 segments. Excavation will continue at 33 Ave and 86 St. at one segment and concrete form removal and backfill are also in progress at 16 Ave.

Once the feeder main work is done it will be filled, flushed, and water tested.

Staff with the city say construction on the feeder main is expected to be finished by the end of September.
