Central Plains Cancer Services is celebrating its 25th anniversary in the region and thought a high tea would be a fitting way to mark the milestone.
Executive director Sharilyn Knox says the event will take place on Oct. 3 at St. Mary’s Church.
“We’re going to have two sittings. It’s going to be lovely. We want people to come who have been supporters of our organization — maybe patients, donors, drivers — whoever wants to come. We know what we do in our region is very important, and we look forward to the next 25 years. So, it’s a great way to celebrate,” she says.
For those unfamiliar, a high tea is a formal gathering to drink tea, with coffee on hand as well as dainties and scones — all the traditional elements of an English high tea.
“You may or may not know that Jody from our office is what we call a Royalist, so we talked about this and thought it would be a great idea. It’s just something a little different and fun to do. The event is open to everyone. Tickets will go on sale at our office because we have two sittings. We can only accommodate so many people, so tickets will be available at our office anytime,” Knox says.
She adds that while some people might come dressed in fancy dresses and hats, everyone is welcome to attend however they like.
