With Christian and Gospel music awards taking a recent hit in Canada, the Gospel Music Industry Hub has stepped up to recognize artists nationwide.
This week, GMIHub, an organization that helps artists get along in their music career by equipping them with people who can help them with things like their business, creativity and production, announced the launch of the inaugural Gospel Music Industry Hub Awards.
"It's really just a response from artists who have reached out to us and said they feel like they don't get enough representation, especially with the recent news that has happened out in the music industry," said Cheryle Dueck, founder of GMIHub.
Dueck says the awards will celebrate and honour the achievements of gospel and Christian music artists across Canada, shining a spotlight on their talent and dedication.
"I think it's important to recognize that these artists have put a lot of work, and a lot of effort in what they are doing and that we should, recognize them not just for the end result, but for the whole process they have gone through to get to where they are right now."
The GMIHub Awards will recognize works released during the eligibility period of January 1 to December 31, 2024. Artists, producers, songwriters, and industry professionals are all encouraged to submit their projects for consideration.
Submission dates and detailed eligibility guidelines will be announced soon.
The inaugural Gospel Music Industry Hub Awards will take place in Mississauga, Ontario over two days, Aug.15-16, 2025 and feature recognition ceremonies, live performances, and industry panels aimed at fostering collaboration, mentorship, and professional growth.
"My prayer with that is that it will be a continuous symbol of again encouraging unity community, mentorship, and talent growth," said Cheryle. “We believe the GMIHub Awards will become a cornerstone event in the Canadian Christian music industry."
