The ECS Elecs Boys Senior Volleyball team is off to an impressive start this season, showcasing strong performances in their early tournaments. Head coach Bryton Such shared insights into the team's journey so far and what lies ahead.

"We’ve already had two tournaments so far," Such explained. "We had a tournament in Oxbow in early September, and then we had a tournament in Saskatoon the following weekend."

The Elecs showcased their skills at both events. "The Oxbow tournament went really well. We ended up winning the entire tournament," said Such. The team faced tough competition, including squads from local schools like Oxbow and Carnduff.

In Saskatoon, the Elecs continued their momentum, finishing in the top eight among 24 teams. "We ended up finishing sixth, which is incredible considering that some of the best teams in the province were there," Such remarked.

This is Such's first year as head coach after assisting with both junior and senior teams last season. "I’m excited. It’ll be an awesome experience for all of our guys to go out there and prove that we’re one of the better teams in the province," he said.

In addition to the Elecs senior team, Such is the coach of the U15M Estevan Extreme Volleyball Club team and won the Sask Volleyball Don Laing Male Development Coach of the Year award earlier this year.

He expressed enthusiasm about the team's growth, saying, "Our offense is really coming together, and our serve reception has been consistently strong." Such also highlighted the significant progress of players he has been coaching for three years in the club system.

Next weekend, the team will participate in the Reconciliation in Sport Volleyball Tournament in Regina. Following that, the Elecs will prepare for the return of the Co-op Challenge, with the Estevan leg set for October 9. "It’s an awesome event. Anytime you match up against Weyburn, there’s that extra excitement and stress," said Such. The Elecs will then travel to Weyburn for the second leg of the challenge.

"I know that we don't have any games apart from the Co-op series that are local, but even coming out to Regina and supporting some of the guys or going to Moose Jaw for our regionals is always helpful," he added. "It’s great to have some home fans cheering you on, and this is an amazing group of guys that will be fun to watch for a long time."
