The Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium in Brandon will be celebrating their 55th Anniversary next week of bringing live performances to the Westman Region.
On October 1st, 1969 the official ceremony took place to open the doors to the public to this amazing venue.
"We've been really the hub for performing art celebrations and cultural celebrations for 55 years and we hope to do it for another 55," shares General Manager Kaitlyn Mitchell. "It's really quite an accomplishment when you think about it. It's stood the test of time for that many years, and seeing all the more events come to the stage every year is to see more and more artists come through the door, which is amazing."
The WMCA showcases a large stage and theatre setting for live performances and significant events.
"It's a gem," adds Mitchell. "It really is a sense of community with all the local user groups that we have and all the patrons that come to professional shows as well, tend to be some of the same people as our arts community. It is a tight knit group and so it's been really awesome!"
The 55th Anniversary Gala will take place on October 1st, the exact day that commemorates the Grand Opening back in 1969.
The gala will also be a fundraiser for the WMCA, to raise funds for some facility upgrades that include attention to their building foundation, as well as to address the need for more bathroom facilities.
