The City of Moose Jaw has sponsored a course designed to help local businesses stand out in the crowd and become a destination for visitors.
The sponsorship is with Destination Creation, who will be offering the course on four Tuesdays throughout October.
“We know Moose Jaw is the top tourist attraction in Saskatchewan, perhaps in Canada, or North America, it's one of the greats. What we're looking to do is give our businesses a tool to help them become destinations within the destination of Moose Jaw,” said Craig Hemingway, Acting Director of Strategic Growth for the City of Moose Jaw.
The LIVE program runs online Tuesday, October 8, 15, 22 and 29 from 9 a.m. to Noon.
“It's an online course that will show you and your business how you can really drill down on what is the story of your business, how to make it unique, how to sell it, and certainly a lot of that applies to selling it on social media.”
Over the course of the sessions, participants will learn how to compete with larger competitors, leverage their unique positioning, target their most profitable customers and capture consumer and media attention.
“Think about when you go anywhere these days, you're probably going to visit a website for that community, but you're on social media, you're on Instagram, you're scrolling down to find those city hashtags and find out where those must-visit destinations are, whether they're shops or restaurants or other attractions.”
“This course is designed to help make your business one of those businesses that are being talked about and shared.”
The City of Moose Jaw will cover 50 per cent ($25) of the $50 registration cost for the first 20 businesses who sign up. Email chemingway@moosejaw.ca or call 306-694-4406 to get your coupon code.
“We do have an amazing business community and this is our chance to provide some support to our businesses in Moose Jaw and bring awareness to this program that's going to make a big impact in their ability to reach more customers.”
The program is offered by Community Futures Mid-Saks, with the support of the Rural Opportunity Fund 2.0.
