One of the Rotary Club of Portage la Prairie's largest fundraising efforts is underway.
The annual Rotary Veggie Sale starts on October 2, and continues through October 5. Press Relations Director Preston Meier says it's been a longstanding tradition for the club, as this is the 46th veggie sale the club has put on, not missing a year in the process.
"Even though we don't specifically earmark the dollars of where the fundraising goes to, it goes to our ongoing projects," notes Meier. "Think of projects like the Rotary Duck Pond, the Portage Skateboard Park, some of our exchange student costs. 100 per cent of the funds go right back into the community."
He adds that they have a great assortment of green cabbage, red potatoes, onions, carrots, cauliflower, beets, parsnips, and a variety of squash.
"The process is very similar to the way it's always been," says Meier. "You just drive right in. We've got concierges that will actually walk right up to your vehicle, take your order, and load it up for you. Certainly feel free to walk around, but we'll have everything that we've normally had year after year."
The sale will take place at the PortageOnline, Mix 96, Country 93, and CFRY office at 2390 Sissons Drive. Sales on October 2-4 will take place from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. while October 5 will be from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. If supplies last.
