For over three decades, Photo Central has been a go-to shop for camera enthusiasts and professionals alike.
“That is why we exist,” says Toews, who purchased the store from his father in 2008.
The knowledgeable staff are well versed in the various camera offerings from a wide variety of industry leaders, including Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, Olympus and more.
“Having the time and the opportunity to be able to look at this equipment and see if it actually suits you is what makes the difference for our customers,” he says.
Photo Central’s print lab has a reputation as one of the best in the city, producing everything from small 4x6s to large fine art canvas prints, and even mugs and other gift options.
“You're going to see some renovations and some changes in the store to accommodate the increased business and increased options that we have in the lab,” says Toews about future plans.
KEH back in town
On October 18 and 19, Photo Central welcomes back KEH – a US-based company that buys and sells used equipment.
“They just set up shop in the corner of our store,” explains Toews about the laid-back process. "People come in, they will evaluate your equipment and give you money on the spot for your gear.”
For those looking to upgrade, there is an additional 10% bonus if the money is used in store at Photo Central.
Classic 107 Online Auction returns
In the coming week, there will be an opportunity to bid, buy, and save as the Classic 107 Online Auction returns October 9 through 16.
Photo Central has contributed a few items, including an Olympus OM10 Mark IV camera.
“They are a wonderful travel camera, interchangeable lens camera, so you do have an option to make this as much of a hobby and a system as you want to,” says Toews.
