The Portage La Prairie Regional Library is gearing up for its much-anticipated annual trick-or-treat event on October 26, running from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. The library's Community Program Coordinator, Leah O'Leary, says that this year's event will feature twelve different local organizations, including long-time sponsor Co-op.
Families can expect a fun filled atmosphere, as the event has attracted nearly 1,000 children in previous years.
"It's going to be very busy and very loud for those three hours," O'Leary laughed.
In addition to trick-or-treating, the library has planned several other engaging activities throughout October. On October 12, local firefighters will visit to provide a safety talk, coinciding with Fire Prevention Week. Later, on October 17, paranormal investigators will host a session at 6 p.m., discussing various topics related to the supernatural.
Looking ahead, O'Leary shared details about upcoming projects, including a poppy crochet initiative starting on October 15, aimed at creating a Remembrance Day display. Additionally, the library will collaborate with the Family Resource Centre for its Santa event in December, with dates to be determined.
O'Leary expressed gratitude for the community's support and the role local organizations play in making these events successful.
"We're really happy to partner with so many wonderful groups."
The library encourages families to join in the fun, making this year’s trick-or-treat event a memorable highlight of the season.
