This past summer, I had the absolute pleasure of being one of the MCs for several Summer Series and Bandstand Sunday shows at The Venue and in George Lane Park. I have volunteered with them in the past for a few events, but this year I truly got to see how this wonderful group of people and their volunteers are so passionate about the town of High River.
They love providing entertainment, inspiration, education and mentorship opportunities to seniors, adults, teens and children from all cultural and economic backgrounds. I believe they are an integral part of the Foothills and our arts & culture community. Â
With The Venue Summer Series, Bandstand Sundays, Culture Days, and several other fantastic galleries, film screenings and activities wrapped for another year, the High River Performing Arts Foundation (HRPAF) are not only gearing up for a fabulous 2025 full of live music and events, they're also looking forward to more development on their new collaborative hub!
That's right, the High River Performing Arts Foundation are developing an accessible, inclusive, and collaborative creative and performing arts hub building to advance the appreciation of the arts and provide a public amenity to those living in and travelling through High River and the Foothills region of Southern Alberta.Â
With all that being said, they need our help and our voices! I got a chance to speak with Michael Koehler (Treasurer & Co-Founder, High River Performing Arts Foundation) for a summary of 2024 and how we can support them into the new year and beyond. Â
