Midale is preparing for a festive celebration as the Santa Claus Parade returns to town. Hosted by the Midale Plus One Club, this annual tradition promises to bring holiday cheer and strengthen community connections.
"We started the annual Santa Claus parade to spread holiday cheer and give local businesses and organizations a chance to celebrate with the community. It's something that everyone looks forward to each year," shared Lois Feaver, a volunteer board member for the event.
Scheduled for November 16, the festivities kick off at 11:00 a.m. with a parade winding through town. Feaver says it will feature a range of vibrant and creative floats.
"People can expect everything from fun themes to vibrant decorations, and we always have quite the turnout—from young to old and everything in between. We've had some really unique floats each year, so the more unique, the better!"
Following the parade, the celebration continues at the 39'rs Club on 203 Main Street, where kids can enjoy photos with Santa, candy canes, and a raffle for special prizes. The event also includes a Grey Cup square draw, adding a bit of extra excitement to the afternoon. Safety remains a priority, with the RCMP and local police helping ensure the parade runs smoothly.
Reflecting on the community's dedication to this holiday tradition, Feaver expressed her appreciation for the local support.
"It's pretty fantastic. It really promotes a cohesive community. We are very grateful to all those who want to participate and those who are involved year after year."
For Feaver, the event's highlights are clear.
"I'd say my favourite part is the number of people who line up throughout our town and seeing how many people come out in droves from the surrounding communities to enjoy the parade. And, of course, seeing the kids on Santa's lap, beaming with excitement as they tell Santa what they want for Christmas."
