November is Hockey Fights Cancer Month, and the Pembina Valley Hawks U18 AAA team is gearing up for a game that aims to do just that.

The Hawks will take on the Winnipeg Thrashers at 8 p.m. tonight (November 8th) at the Access Event Centre in Morden.

All proceeds from the game will go to Community Cancer Care at Boundary Trails Health Centre (BTHC) Foundation.

“We just want to show our support and show that we care and just give back to all those people,” says Ragnar Gillis, a Pembina Valley Hawk from Morden.

Chocolate mustaches will also be on sale to fundraise for the BTHC Foundation. They will be $2.00 each.

The players at tonight’s special game will wear purple jerseys during warm-ups and purple tape and stickers for the game. There will also be a 50/50 draw.

The Pembina Valley Hawks are excited to play for a good cause.

“We have a voice in the community being on this team, so we might as well use it for something,” says Carter Unger, a forward from Winkler, adding that the game is sure to be a good time.

“It's pretty loud in there, so it's fun,” he says.

Come out tonight for Hockey Fights Cancer Month with the Pembina Valley Hawks.
