The Winnipeg Jets suffered their first road loss of the season last night, falling 4-1 to the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena.

The loss snapped a franchise-record seven-game road winning streak to start the season.

Winnipeg’s power play, which had been red-hot at a league-leading 42.2 per cent, faltered in Tampa, going 0-for-5.

Captain Adam Lowry scored the lone goal for the Jets, his third of the season, while goaltender Eric Comrie made 32 saves in his first loss after a five-game winning streak.

Tampa Bay opened the scoring with Jake Guentzel finding the back of the net at 7:24 of the first period. Brandon Hagel doubled the lead in the second, and the Lightning added a power-play goal later in the frame to make it 3-0.

Lowry provided a spark for Winnipeg late in the second, narrowing the deficit to 3-1, but the Jets couldn’t capitalize on opportunities in the third.

Guentzel sealed the win with an empty-net goal with 21 seconds remaining.

Andrei Vasilevskiy recorded 24 saves to secure his 300th career win, reaching the milestone in just 490 games—the fastest in NHL history. He surpassed Jacques Plante’s record by 31 games.

The Jets will look to bounce back on Saturday night when they visit the Florida Panthers.
