The Okotoks Oilers were in B.C. over the weekend for their road trip and came home with two losses.
On Friday, the Green and Gold were in Vernon to face the Vipers.
It marked the second time both teams have faced off this year with the Oilers taking the first game. Friday night, however,saw the Vipers take the win in a 7-4 hockey game.
Olivier Ciarlo made the start in net with Simon Westling coming in relief during the first period.
Michael Kowalski opened the scoring in the game with his third goal on the season coming 2:37 into the game.
Jamie Hikida and Ryan Boyce would pick up points on the Kowalski marker. The Vipers were relentless after the Kowalski goal, scoring five goals in the first period to take a commanding 5-1 lead after the first frame. Landon MacDonald has two goals with Jakun Galnor, Luke Bibby, and Corban Almen getting the other three in the period.
Jacob Goudreau responded seven minutes into the second period for his fifth goal on the season. Coy Pighin and assistant captain Brett Wilson added the assists. MacDonald completed his hat trick against the Oilers around 10 minutes later to take a 6-2 lead.
Goudreau would add his second goal of the game less than four minutes into the third period with Wilson picking up his second assist on the night and Ryder de Nys getting the other helper.
Boyce cut the Vipers' lead in half 13:59 into the final frame with Hikida and Black getting the assists. Vipers would get an empty net goal from Bibby to close the game.
Saturday didn't bode well either for the Green and Gold as they were shut out 5-0 by the West Kelowna Warriors. Ciarlo would make 25 saves in the loss.
The Oilers will try to get back in the win column Friday (Nov. 22) when the Trail Smoke Eaters make their way to Okotoks for the first time in their franchise history. The Oilers will then head to Blackfalds on Saturday to face the Bulldogs.
