High River Town Council provided funding to a trio of local projects at their latest meeting.
On Nov. 12, they were presented with recommendations from the Community Vitality Advisory Committee.
The Community Vitality Fund supports local initiatives and community projects that might not be possible without a funding boost.
One of the three projects approved for funding is a documentary series called "High River Chronicles - Stories of a Prairie Town," to be produced by the Unity Film Festival.
The $4,200 awarded to the project will cover workshops to be held during the filmmaking process, the production of the series itself, and a screening of the first episode.
Another project approved for Community utility funding is the Windmill Theatre Players' upcoming anniversary gala.
The "50 Years and Still Having a Ball!" gala is being held at the Highwood Centre on December 28, with the $19.74 ticket price tying in with the year the group was founded.
Council awarded the group with $2,500 for the event.
The third and final project to receive funding is a basketball tournament from the non-profit group "Jesus Rock of Ages Ministries."
It's scheduled to take place from Nov. 16-April 27 from 4-8 p.m. at the High River Baptist Church, and is intended to " bridge cultures and help reduce barriers that are caused by cultural background differences."
They requested $8,620 and were given $5,120.
A replay of the meeting can be seen on the Town of High River's YouTube channel.
