The following is the RCMP report to November 18th, 2024.  This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service.

- 12 traffic violations

- 17 provincial statute (Mental Health Act, Fire Prevention Act, Coroner's Act, 911 Act)

- 23 common police activities (alarms, suspicious persons/vehicles, assistance to general public)

- 10 crimes against property 

- 9 other criminal code

- 11 crimes against person

- 0 traffic accidents

 

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

Just a reminder that RCMP DO NOT do child abuse and adult abuse registry checks.  RCMP is responsible for criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks.  You require a vulnerable sector check if you are in a position of trust. You must present to the detachment when applying for a vulnerable sector check. 

Position of Trust means a paid or voluntary position dealing with vulnerable people. Vulnerable people may include children, youth, the elderly, people with physical, developmental, emotional, social, or other disabilities, people who are addicted or dependent on addictive substances, and people who have been the victim of a crime or an accident.

Applicants who require a Vulnerable Sector Check from their organization must present themselves in person and provide written consent in order for the checks to be conducted.

Proper identification must be produced and recorded on the application: a government issued photo identification for the Primary Document, and a secondary document which verifies the Primary identification.

YOUTH CRIMINAL RECORD CHECKS

Criminal record checks cannot be done on youth unless working in Government. It has been established that non-provincially or municipally run summer camps and pools, public/private schools including colleges/universities are not government employers.

 

November 1, 2024

Police responded to a 911 call for a person reported missing in the RM of Deloraine-Winchester. Police worked with the local fire department and together were able to locate the missing person, who was then transported to the hospital.

Police received a request for police assistance in Baldur. Police followed up with the complainant and explained the situation was not a police matter and the file was concluded.

Police responded to a 911 call for a break and enter and breach of court order in the RM of Grassland. A female was arrested and later released on an undertaking to appear in court.

Police responded to a call under the fire prevention act in Killarney. The fire department was on scene and there were no injuries, so police departed.

Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle in Ninette. Police patrolled the area however the vehicle was gone on arrival.

 

November 2, 2024

Police received a report of mischief in Killarney. Police patrolled the area for the suspects involved however were not able to locate them. Police followed up with the complainant who did not wish to provide additional details on the suspects location therefor there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police responded to a call under the family law act in Boissevain. The matter was concluded.

 

November 3, 2024

Police received a report of a suspicious person in the RM of Prairie Lakes. Police attended and spoke with the complainant however there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police received a call for an animal complaint in the RM of Prairie Lakes. Police followed up with the complainant and provided the number for animal control.

 

November 4, 2024

Police received a report of mischief in the RM of Cartwright-Roblin. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of an injured animal on the road in Ninette. Conservation was contacted and the matter was concluded.

Police responded to a 911 call for failure to comply with a court order in Killarney. A male was arrested and remanded to Brandon.

 

November 5, 2024

Police received a report of a suspicious person in Killarney. Police located the person and the matter was concluded.

Police received a report of uttering threats in Deloraine. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

 

November 6, 2024

Police received a report of a fraud in Killarney. The complainant was contacted by someone claiming to be Telus and was requesting their information. No information was provided, and no money was lost. The complainant was reporting for information purposes only.

Police received a report of an abandoned vehicle in the RM of Argyle. Police located the vehicle, contacted the owner and the matter was concluded.

Police received a request for assistance from another agency. Police attended and assisted where required.

 

November 7, 2024

Police received a report of mischief in Hartney. The matter is under investigation.

Police responded to a call under the 911 act in Killarney. A female was transported to the hospital and the matter was concluded.

 

November 8, 2024

Police responded to a request for a wellbeing check in Killarney. All parties were located safe.

Police responded to a 911 call for a breach of peace in Killarney. A female was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police received a report of a traffic collision in the RM of Argyle. Police attended the location however no vehicles were located.

 

November 9, 2024

Police received a report of uttering threats in Killarney. Police attended and spoke with both parties. The complainant was uncooperative and declined to proceed therefor the matter was concluded.

 

November 10, 2024

Police received a report of a suspicious person in the Municipality of Boissevain-Morton. Police were able to locate the person and provide assistance. The matter was concluded.

Police responded to a call for a motor vehicle collision in the RM of Prairie Lakes. Police attended and a male was arrested and released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.

Police received a report under the wildlife act in the RM of Argyle. Police spoke with the parties involved and it was determined no laws were broken and the matter was concluded.

Police responded to a call for an intoxicated person in Hartney. A female was lodged in cells and released once sober. 

Police responded to a call for an assault in Killarney. Upon arrival police spoke with the complainant who declined to proceed with charges.

 

November 11, 2024

Police received a report of mischief in the RM of Killarney-Turtle Mountain. Multiple small patches of grass had been burnt in the ditch. The matter is under investigation.

 

November 12, 2024

Police received a report of an assault in the RM of Prairie lakes. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of a theft of cattle in the RM of Grasslands. The matter is under investigation.

Police responded to a call for an assault with weapon in Killarney. A female was arrested however the complainant then declined to proceed with charges.

Police responded to a call for disturbing the peace in Killarney. The matter was concluded.

 

November 13, 2024

Police received a call under the 911 act in Boissevain. Police attended and spoke with the caller and the matter was concluded.

Police responded to a request for a wellbeing check in Margaret. All parties were located safe.

 

November 14, 2024

Police received a report of theft in the RM of Argyle. Police followed up with the complainant and the matter was unfounded.

Police received a report of a possible traffic hazard in the Municipality of Boissevain-Morton. Police patrolled the area however no hazard was located.

Police received a report of an assault with weapon in Boissevain. Police followed up with the complainant and the people involved however they would not provide any additional information and did not want to proceed with charges.

 

November 15, 2024

Police received a report of uttering threats in Medora. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of fraud in Boissevain. The complainant had provided his SIN information but did not lose any money. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of failure to comply with a court order in Killarney. A male was arrested and released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.

Police responded to a call under the municipal bylaws act. Police spoke with the parties involved and the matter was concluded.

 

November 16, 2024

Police received a report under the municipal bylaws act in Ninette. Police attended the area however there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police responded to a hang up 911 call for a possible break and enter in Killarney. Police completed extensive patrols in the area however no suspicious activity was observed. There was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Police responded to a call for uttering threats in Killarney. A male was arrested and lodged in cells until sober. The complainant declined to proceed with charges.

Police responded to a call for an assault in Boissevain. The matter was unfounded.

Police received a report of suspicious property located in Killarney. Police were able to contact the owner and the matter was concluded.

It is important to report ALL thefts, stolen or lost property to police in a timely fashion so that it can be followed up on by police.

Reminders:

Police continue to remind residents to never provide personal information such as birth dates, SIN numbers, credit card numbers, or e-mail address to parties you do not know.  If you feel that you have been contacted by a fraudulent source, please contact police or Canadian AntiFraud Center immediately for further instructions on what you can do.  Canadian Antifraud Centre can be reached directly at 1-888-495-8501, however also report same to the local detachment.

Due to the many reports of vehicle thefts, the public is reminded to secure parked and unattended vehicles and refrain from leaving valuables in plain view.

We would like to advise that the business hours of operation at the Killarney Detachment are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. 

Boissevain Detachment business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

RCMP WOULD LIKE TO REMIND THE PUBLIC TO USE THE POLICE EMERGENCY LINE FOR YOUR LOCAL OFFICE (204) 523-7255 or 911.  The administration line may not be checked until the following day or possibly the Monday following a weekend.  Members may be in another community or on the road. 

DO NOT LEAVE A MESSAGE IF YOU REQUIRE IMMEDIATE POLICE ASSISTANCE, YOU MUST DIAL 204-523-7255 (Killarney), 204-534-7261 (Boissevain), 204-747-2575 (Deloraine) OR 911 TO HAVE A POLICE OFFICER RESPOND TO YOU.  This will dispatch an officer without dispatching ambulance and fire unless required.
