The Yuletide season is a treasured time of year for cookie lovers everywhere, including the St. Andrew's United Church.
Come the Christmas season, they prepare a special batch of about 50 dozen assorted Christmas delights in the shapes and colours of the season. There are about seven different varieties, each of them vegan.
It was something that was added after they began the tradition of preparing and serving cookies at the social following their regular Sunday service.
"Years ago, we would just stand around having coffee until someone suggested we should put up tables," says head cookie baker Carole Clement. "So we did, and now we have tea, coffee, and cookies and they're always so wonderful."
The Christmas batches are all delicious but there's one in particular that Carole fancies.
"We have one that has Christmas Rice Krispies in them and they're my favourite. You can see little flecks of red and green all through them, there's coconut and oatmeal, and they're chewy and oh so good"
