On Nov. 15, at approximately 7:43 p.m., the Red Deer RCMP Downtown Patrol Unit were conducting proactive patrols when a vehicle was seen with a stolen licence plate in the area of Gaetz Avenue and 50th Street.
Through an investigation, officers identified a passenger in the vehicle who had outstanding warrants.
The suspect attempted to flee, but was arrested.
During a search, an improvised loaded handgun and a knife were discovered on the suspect.
Donald Jack Bosma, a 55-year-old resident of Stettler, has been charged with the following offences:
- Weapon possession contrary to order x2
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon
- Carrying concealed weapon
- Dangerous operation of motor vehicle
- Resist peace officer
- Possession of firearm when kowning possession is unauthorized
- Possession of resitricted or prohibited firearm with ammo without licence
- Flight from Peace Officer
- Unsafe storage of firearm
Bosma was taken before a Justice of the Peace and has been remanded.
His last court appearance was on Nov. 20, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
