Tonight at 7pm, McNally Robinson Booksellers is holding a fantastic event that features 3 Winnipeg authors, reading and talking about their new books written for middle School aged children.
The three featured authors are Colleen Nelson, who will be reading from her book Mystery at The Biltmore; Carol Matas, who will be sharing excerpts fromt Zevi: Tales from the Spotlight; and Sidura Ludwig, who will read from Swan: The Girl Who Grew.
The only author at tonight's event that is not currently living in Winnipeg....but is very much a Winnipeger in every sense of the word is Sidura Ludwig.
Now living in Thornhill, Ontario, Sidura Ludwig grew up in Winnipeg and still has deep familial and personal ties to the city. Since graduating from Grant Park High School, she has worked as a radio journalist for the CBC, a communications specialist in the UK and a copywriter for various non-profit organizations. She holds a Masters in Journalism from Carlton University and a Master of Fine Arts from the Vermont College of Fine Arts.
Ludwig’s brand new book Swan: The Girl Who Grew, reimagines the childhood of real-life Nova Scotia giantess Anna Swan who lived between 1846 –1888. The book deals with being different and how that is often dealt with amongst adolescents. In Ludwig’s book Anna Swan worries she will never stop growing and dreams of a day where the world sees her not for her great height, but as a friendly gentle girl who is very intelligent and loves to read books under the trees.
Tonight’s event at the Grant Park McNally Robinson is sure to be just fantastic!
