Jennifer Gauthier, a local cyclist, is inviting people interested in fat bikes to Boh’s Cycle on Saturday afternoon.
“A fat bike has wide tires – 3.8 inches or wider. My fat bike is 4.6 inches,” explained Gauthier.
She said they’re the perfect bike for cycling during Saskatchewan winters, and this is her seventh winter riding the bikes. “The wide tires, with a low PSI, make it capable of riding on snow, and if you have studded tires, it’s great for riding on ice as well.”
The Gobal Fat Bike Day event in Moose Jaw will be starting at Boh’s Cycle at 2 p.m., with an hour-long ride going through Wakamow Valley before circling back to Boh’s Cycle.
People are encouraged to join the ride with their own fat bikes, and all skill levels are welcome.
“It’ll be a perfect opportunity to try a fat bike, because the weather is mild, also,” added Gauthier.
For those who don’t have a fat bike but want to give it a try, daily rentals at Boh's Cycle are $40.
