While Methodist Missionary Chapel Canada and Grace Communion Winnipeg usually share a building on Sundays, this Sunday, on Dec. 22, two churches are combining for a special Christmas service.

Methodist Missionary Chapel Canada uses Grace Communion Winnipeg's building on a normal week, but Reverend Bamidele Oni, is excited to combine congregations this week. "We are having a Christmas Communion service at 11 a.m. During the service, we're coming together as two congregations to celebrate Christmas and God's faithfulness."

Pastor Alexander Brandt is looking forward to one aspect of the service the most. "I'm personally really looking forward to communion because I think it's in the body and the blood of Christ that we are really united. We aren't just gathering as a social club, this is about Jesus and it's through Jesus that we are unified. No matter what denomination we're part of, if we are in Christ, then we are unified."

The service will feature a mixture of both churches. "We're going to have an intercessory session and prayer," Oni said. "We're going to pray over the city and about Christmas. There's going to be a celebration of some carol songs during the service and also spontaneous worship."

The joint service is on Dec. 22 at 11 a.m. at Grace Communion Church, 50 Barnes Street.
