A family from California was able to witness a miracle amid absolute destruction.

For 36 years, Peter and Jackie Haplin raised their six children in their Altadena home.

"It has continued to be our “home base” as our family has grown (14 grandchildren, soon to be 15)," said their daughter, Clare. "My sister, Gianna was living in their back house with her 2-year-old daughter Beatrice."

Their home was one of the many that burned to the ground, leaving them with nothing.

On Thursday, the family visited the site where their home once stood and were amazed by what they saw.

"We found statues of Mary and St. Joseph to be the only surviving items."

The family prayed and sang in front of them, a moment that was captured on video by one of their good friends.

"Faith has always been the foundation of our family and it will continue to be as we navigate forward."

Since the video was released it has gone viral catching the eye of Candace Cameron Bure and many others.

"Watching the video brought tears to my eyes and now reading your response the tears are flowing," said one person on social media. "Praying for your family and all who have been devastated by this horrific tragedy. May the God of all hope and peace bring you comfort.

Firefighters are hoping for a break from the winds as they continue to battle the raging wildfires across California. So far, the devasting fires have killed 10 people, destroyed thousands of homes and obliterated entire neighbourhoods.
