During February's 'I Love to Read' month, Sylvia St. Cyr of CHVN visited a second classroom in Winnipeg, the grade 3 class at Springs Christian Academy.
St. Cyr was greeted at the office by one of the grade 3 students in 3C to be escorted throughout the hallways to the classroom. When she got there, all the kids were sitting on their world map carpet, ready to listen.
Before reading, St. Cyr asked the class what they were currently learning. Many kids answered with raised hands, sharing that they were learning about friction, multiplication, division, and gravity.
The first story was a Jillian Jiggs book about catching a monster with a paper-made machine.
The second story was about a kindergarten class and the obstacles of learning to share, by the infamous Robert Munsch.
The classroom was filled with listening ears, laughter, and many questions. To end an already wonderful time, the students presented St. Cyr with a homemade card that they all took time to sign.
