The South Central Regional Library (SCRL) is celebrating its 60th anniversary with an exciting lineup of fundraising events, including a Quiz Night on March 21st and an upcoming raffle featuring incredible prizes. Plus, there’s still time to enter the current 50/50 draw, which runs until February 24th.
Quiz night: A fun-filled evening for all
Mark your calendars for Quiz Night on Friday, March 21st, at the Access Event Centre in Morden. Doors open at 6:30 PM, with the quizmaster kicking off the event at 7:00 PM. Teams can purchase a table for $280, which includes a charcuterie board, making it a great night out for friends, family, and co-workers.
Cathy Ching, Director of SCRL, shared her excitement about the event, saying, “We want people to come out, have fun, and celebrate with us. You don’t need to be an expert to participate—it’s all about enjoying a great evening with great company.”
Teams are encouraged to dress up to mark the library’s milestone anniversary. “We have a team coming from Brandon that will be covered in more sparkles than the Queen ever wore,” Ching joked.
Upcoming raffle: Big prizes await
SCRL is also launching a new raffle, with ticket sales beginning on Quiz Night. Prizes include Via Rail vouchers for a train trip, a lawn and garden package featuring a chainsaw, leaf blower, and BBQ set, and a fun and games package that includes Winnipeg Blue Bombers tickets and themed merchandise.
Jess Martens, Winkler branch administrator, emphasized the importance of community support, saying, “Events like these help fund programming and improvements in all our library branches. It’s not just about books—it’s about creating spaces and experiences for the whole community.”
Final days for the 50/50 draw
Don’t forget—the library’s 50/50 draw closes on February 24th, with the current prize pool nearing $5,000. Tickets are available online at SCRL60.com. Gail Hildebrand, Morden branch administrator, added, “Every ticket purchase helps us enhance our libraries, from programming to new additions like the coffee corner.”
