Winkler Arts and Culture (WAC) is inviting trivia enthusiasts to test their knowledge at the first-ever Trivia Night Fundraiser, happening Friday February 21st at 7:00 PM at their gallery space, located at 547 Park St., Winkler.

For just $50 per team (four to six players), participants can enjoy a night of brain-teasing questions while supporting local arts programming. Teams can register online at winklerarts.com, call the gallery, or sign up in person.

Why trivia?

Jared Hildebrand, Executive Director of WAC, shares the inspiration behind the event, explaining that it’s not only a great way to raise funds but also an opportunity to bring people together.

"It's a reason to get people out of the home again, back into our gallery space,” says Hildebrand. "And it’s a bit of a fundraiser for us."

Trivia Night will feature a mix of categories, ensuring there’s something for everyone. "You need to be a generalist or an expert on just about everything,” he says. “There will be questions on art, music, general knowledge, geography, and even sports.”

Prizes and fun incentives

WAC is hoping to fill all 10 available team slots, with half already reserved. Along with bragging rights, winners will take home $120 in gift cards to Janzen's Paint & Decorating, as well as a treat basket to share.

"If you show up, you’ll get a gold star," Hildebrand jokes. "But there are also some great prizes up for grabs!"

Supporting local arts programs

The fundraiser will directly support WAC’s various community initiatives, from children’s and adult art programs to newcomer welcome evenings.

"It helps keep our lights on, our water bill paid—all those wonderful things we need to have a great community space," Hildebrand explains.

Exciting events on the horizon

In addition to Trivia Night, WAC has a packed event schedule, including drop-in art nights, where artists of all skill levels can gather in a relaxed setting. The first drop-in night is scheduled for February 27th, and if successful, WAC hopes to expand the program.

"We wanted to add something new to our schedule," Hildebrand says. "Carman and Morden have great drop-in programs, and we felt we were missing that here."

WAC also offers various art workshops, including voice lessons, after-school art programs, and intermediate acrylic painting classes.
