In a significant development for the renowned British vocal ensemble VOCES8, soprano Andrea Haines has announced her decision to step down after an illustrious 17-year tenure. As one of the longest-serving members, second only to founder Barney Smith, Andrea has been integral to the group's success and evolution.
Reflecting on her journey, Andrea shared:
"After 17 years in VOCES8, it’s very difficult to put into words the impact my time in the group has had on my life and in shaping who I am. I joined VOCES8 fresh out of university, and it’s been an incredible adventure, singing and travelling with some of the most talented colleagues I know, colleagues who have become family."
Throughout her career with VOCES8, Andrea has graced stages worldwide, from Nairobi to Mexico City, Jerusalem to Sydney, fostering connections and friendships across the globe. Her departure marks the end of an era for the ensemble, as they prepare to celebrate their 20th anniversary in 2025.
The ensemble expressed their sentiments, stating, "We hope our global community of friends and family will come and see her in concert and celebrate her amazing career with the group during 2025."

As Andrea embarks on new ventures, she leaves behind a legacy of musical excellence and camaraderie. Her contributions have not only shaped VOCES8's artistic direction but have also inspired audiences and fellow musicians alike.
Fans and supporters are encouraged to attend upcoming concerts to celebrate Andrea's remarkable journey with VOCES8 and to witness the ensemble's continued dedication to choral artistry.
