The Famous Five have stopped in Okotoks during their cross-Canada tour.

Earlier this month, I was honoured with the awesome opportunity to attend the Town of Okotoks' Pink Tea Opening Reception!

It was a launch event for the "Women Are Persons!" exhibition at the Okotoks Municipal Centre.

The exhibition is all about the Famous Five, a group of women (Henrietta Muir Edwards, Nellie McClung, Louise McKinney, Emily Murphy, and Irene Parlby) who advocated for the rights of women in the early 20th century, including their right to vote and run for office.

They're depicted as bronze statues, which are touring the country!

I got to see a few speeches from Mayor Tanya Thorn as well as Frances Wright, the Famous 5 Foundation's co-founder. Of course, there was plenty of tea, too.

Check out the gallery below, and be sure to visit the exhibit in person if you get the chance.

It'll be at the Okotoks Municipal Centre until March 28.
