With fresh snowfall blanketing the region in what “was supposed to be spring”, Country 88 morning show host Ty Hildebrand and The Eagle 93.5 morning show host Jayme Giesbrecht encouraged community members to take matters into their own hands by renaming the season altogether.

While meteorologists insist it’s technically spring, the people on the streets had a different take when asked what they’d call this seasonal identity crisis.

"Slushbucket!"

“Slushbucket,” one resident answered with zero hesitation, summing up the melting snow and inevitable puddles that have taken over sidewalks and roads.

Others leaned into the frustration. “Go away,” one woman responded laughing, a clear message directed at the unwelcome return of winter’s frosty grip.

"Shpling!"

Some took a more creative approach. “WING!” declared another, a mash-up of winter and spring that seems to perfectly capture the indecisive weather. Another resident coined “Shpling,” a fusion of spring and something… less pleasant.

“Swinter” and “Splinter” also made the list, both offering their own spin on the unpredictable mix of warm sun and cold snowflakes.

"The Canadian Season"

Not everyone is opposed to the unexpected snowfall. One brave soul labeled it simply, “The Canadian Season,” embracing the ever-changing climate with a smile. “I love this weather,” he said, unfazed by the slush underfoot.

As for the general consensus? Most people agree—whatever this season is, it’s a mess. “It’s mixed up,” one resident concluded.

No matter what you call it, one thing is certain: winter isn’t quite done with us yet, and spring is going to have to fight a little harder to take over. In the meantime, keep your boots handy.
