Carnie's Comments
It was a laugh I'll never forget and a memory I jogged for four-time Stanley Cup champion Craig MacTavish on the weekend when he was in Moose Jaw for the Kinsmen Club's Sports Celebrity Dinner.
It was about 35 years ago when Mac T was in Moose Jaw with a number of his Edmonton Oiler teammates to play in the Clark Gillies Celebrity Golf Classic.
He and Mark Messier asked me to give them a ride from the golf club to a downtown restaurant. Of course I obliged.
As we were pulling out of the parking lot my friend Barry Jones was driving in and he waved at us. Messier waved back.
Mac T said, "Why are you waving at that guy, Mess? Do you know him?"
Messier smiled and said, "Ya, I think that's the Zamboni driver from Philly", and then he looked at me for confirmation.
I said, "Yes, it is. Jonesy."
And Mac T says, "What the heck is the Zamboni driver from Philadelphia doing in Moose Jaw?"
I said, "He's from here. He spends his summers in Moose Jaw!"
Well, we laughed and laughed.
It's a small world.
