Brandon Lake made a special appearance during a recent episode of American Idol.

Two contestants, Rylie and Breanna, sang a duet version of Lake's single "Gratitude."

Jelly Roll, the artist in residence for this season of American Idol, interrupted the judges to make a video call to Lake.

"I know I just got here, but this is special, y'all. Brandon Lake had to see this," said Jelly Roll.

The girls were blown away when Jelly Roll showed them who was on the call.

"That was the most gorgeous version of "Gratitude" I have ever heard. My goodness. I am honoured," said Lake.

"It was such an honor, getting to glorify the Lord on the idol stage. Thank you for having me," said Riley.

Fans were also blown away by the performance quickly lighting up social media with positive feedback.

"So cool! A lot of worship music this season on Idol....wow!" said one fan. "Feeling the Holy Spirit. This was spectacular!!"

This would be the last performance for Riley, as she was eliminated afterwards.

"I felt God call me to come on this show to glorify Him, and through all of my fear, I took that step of faith. My Jesus is so kind to me, and I will continue to sing of Him and His goodness."

Meanwhile, Breanna has made it into the top 24.

For the first time in its history, American Idol will host an Easter Sunday special, which will air on April 20, 2025.
