Country music fans, mark your calendars and dust off your cowboy boots! The Country Classics Concerts are back for another toe-tappin’, heartstring-pullin’ weekend at the PW Enns Centennial Concert Hall in Winkler — with shows running Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

What started as a single-night show 12 years ago has grown into a full weekend of nostalgic hits, legendary voices, and community spirit. And trust us — you won’t want to miss it.

Three shows, one great lineup

The concerts are led by James Fehr, the driving force behind the Country Classics legacy. What began as a one-night idea alongside local radio personality Connie Bailey has blossomed into a sold-out tradition for many.

“That first show was sold out, and it just kept going from there,” said Fehr. “Now I’m up to three shows — Friday, Saturday, and Sunday — and they’re all the same show, so people can pick what works best for them.”

The host band, made up of seasoned local musicians like Mark Fehr (James’ brother), is ready to bring the classics to life.

“I grew up on country music... Ricky Skaggs and all that,” said Mark. “It’s kind of fun to remake these songs, and it’s a lot of fun to be part of the host band.”

Who’s performing

It’s a stacked lineup of talent with performances by:

  • Ed Wayne

  • Rockford Penner

  • Jeff Wiebe

  • Tammy Bergen

  • Kayla Elias

  • John Penner (doing a little Johnny Cash!)

Backing them all is the incredible house band, including members of the Quonset Brothers, known for their top-tier musicianship and rich harmonies.

“We usually have to learn almost 30 songs for the weekend,” said Mark. “We unfortunately have to say no to a lot of other opportunities this time of year — but it’s all worth it.”

Great music for a great cause

Beyond the music, the shows also support a meaningful mission. All proceeds go toward two international orphanage ministries: Children of Hope, which supports six orphanages in Mexico, and Love All Ministries, which works with children in Africa.

“They’re very grateful,” said James. “They’ve often told me I’m one of their biggest contributors.”

He adds that the heart behind the giving is simple: “I always like to send money to causes that have eternal value.”

Tickets still available!

While Saturday night is nearly sold out, there are still tickets available for Friday and Sunday. At just $25, it’s a great night out for music lovers of all ages.

Tickets can be purchased:

  • At the Meridian Exhibition Centre

  • Online via Eventbrite

  • Or at the door (if not sold out)

Expect everything from Johnny Cash to 90's country

This year’s show is packed with variety, covering everything from Waylon Jennings and Moe Bandy to Linda Ronstadt, Carlene Carter, and even some Steve Earle.

“We’re doing a little more from the '90s this year,” James said with a laugh. “To me that’s new, but to a lot of people that’s old.”

“If you love older country music, this is the show for you,” said James. “I’ve had people come up and say, ‘Why didn’t we come to this earlier?’ There’s just something special about these songs and the way they’re played.”
