Wrestling fans in Mitchell are in for a "body-slam" of excitement, as Canadian Wrestling's Elite (CWE) gets ready to "tag" the area into its Point to Prove tour.
Danny Warren, CWE christened as "Hotshot" Danny Duggan, says the organization is making an appearance in Mitchell on April 26, after a sold-out show in Steinbach this February.
"There is plenty of room in Mitchell, if we can fit the entire town inside that arena," he says.
The CWE seems to be getting bigger and better with every tour, the wrestler says, and encourages people in the area to come scout it out.
"You've got athletes, you've got entertainment, you're getting personalities and characters up front and close and and in your face," Warren says.
It's a highly interactive experience, which he says makes up a large component of the fun.
"You never know what to expect. No event is the same because no audience is the same, and crowd participation is just as important as the wrestling," he says. "Anything is possible when you come to a live wrestling event."
Not only is the energy "off the ropes," but so is the community that bonds over the shows.
Warren says this is a family friendly event, with everyone from kids to grandparents showing up ringside and leaving behind whatever faces them outside the arena.
Even if it's just for a couple of hours.
It's a reason why Warren has "pinned down" wrestling as his career for the last 22 years.
"It's a labour of love...the greatest job in the world. Once you get that bug, you just can't stop as much as your body may tell you it should," he says. "I've been very blessed to travel the world and wrestle in towns big and small across this country and many others.
"There's nothing like being on the road, meeting fans, and building those connections and those bonds with people that you'll go on to know the rest of your life."
