In the second part of our series this week on road conditions in Portage, we look at a small piece of road that runs behind our studios - Park Drive. It is a strecth of road that saw little to no traffic years ago, but as business development expanded on Portage's west side, many people started using it as it connects some of that development together and provides a short cut.

Park Drive map
Many people try and navigate the short stretch of road at the top of this map as a shortcut through the area.

Talking to people on coffee row, we heard many stories about the stretch of road that is in clear need of immediate maintenance. While there were comments on how it came to be in the first place, some thought it was a privately owned road which is why it is not maintained at all in the winter months. Others mentioned they did not believe it was city property and therefore they don't touch it. Some even mentioned whom they thought "owned" the stretch of pavement but all agreed it could swallow a small vehicle.

While none of the stories could be confirmed and we never did get an official comment on the actual status of the pavement, it is another road you could cast a vote for as we look for which road people would fix first if they had their choice.

Craters on Park Drive
This is the biggest pothole on Park Drive which sometimes is marked with a pylon.
