I've been hung-up on two times this week and, in both cases, they called me!
I was at home one afternoon when my telephone rang and a man told me he was with a research firm, and they are conducting a survey. He said it would take 9 minutes and wondered if I would participate.
I like polls and surveys and enjoy sharing the results on the radio so, of course, I said I had time.
His third question was, "Are you or any member of your household employed by government or a media organization."
I said, "Yes", and that was the end of my participation. I got cut.
The next day I was live on the radio when my cel phone rang. I took the call, off-air, and talked to a woman who told me she was representing my bank, and she wanted to talk to me about identity theft.
I said, "I'd love to but I'm a rock 'n roll disc jockey and I'm in the middle of a live radio show."
There was an awkward silence and then she said, "Perhaps I'll call you another time" and hung up.
I don't think she believed me. I'll bet after she hung up, she turned to her fellow telemarketers and said, "That's one I've never heard before."
