Community Spirit on Display

Plum Coulee is about to come alive this weekend as residents prepare for the annual Town-Wide Garage Sale. Organizer and local resident Vicki Hildebrand says this is one of the most exciting weekends of the year for the town. “We’re going to explode the town,” Vicki laughed. “Plum Coulee won’t be very quiet — it’s going to be a party!”

Mark your calendar

The event takes place Saturday, May 3rd from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and whether you're a serious bargain hunter or just out for a stroll and a chat, there's something for everyone.

37+ sales and counting

As of this week, 37 garage sales are already registered — with more expected in the days leading up to Saturday. “There are always a few that trickle in last-minute and a few who forget to tell me,” Vicki explained.

She shares all the listings through the Garage Sale Junkie page on Pembina Valley Online, as well as the Plum Coulee Town-Wide Garage Sale Facebook page, which will include addresses, a map, and handy tips on how to make the most of your day.

Forecast: Sunshine and deals

With the weather expected to hit 25 degrees and sunny, Vicki says it's the perfect forecast. “I’m so thrilled to not be freezing in my garage this year,” she joked.

Fuel up while you browse

Mid-sale hunger? No problem. The Center on Main, located next to Access Credit Union, is hosting a fundraising lunch with proceeds supporting Plum Fest in August. “You’ll stop there, refuel, and then carry on with your treasure hunting,” Vicki said.

Hidden gems & friendly faces

For Vicki, the best part of the sale isn’t just the deals — it’s the people. “Sometimes you’re not even going to buy anything. You’re just going to visit with friends. That’s the best part.”

She shared a favourite find from a past year — a massive Christmas wreath made from ornament balls, which she picked up for just five dollars. “It was this giant, sparkly, happy thing that just made me smile.”

Cruise Coulee on free day

Can’t make it Saturday — or want more deals? Sunday and Monday are “Free Days” in Plum Coulee. Anything unsold can be left at the curb with a “free” sign for others to claim.

“Maybe bring a trailer,” Vicki added with a laugh.

Cleanup crew with class

Before all the action kicks off, students from Plum Coulee School will hit the streets on Friday to help clean up the town.

“They pick up the loose trash after the snow melts — it just makes me so happy. We love our community and want it to be beautiful and welcoming.”

Whether you’re on the hunt for hidden treasures or just in the mood for a fun Saturday stroll, the Plum Coulee Town-Wide Garage Sale is the place to be. And if you're after free finds, Cruise Coulee on Sunday and Monday might surprise you.

“Plum Coulee is the best,” said Vicki. “Come check it out!”
