If you're looking for something fun, free, and air-conditioned to do with your kids this summer, VB’s Entertainment Centre in Winkler has the perfect strike of an idea: Kids Bowl Free.

League legends and perfect games
VB’s General Manager Shanna Klassen is passionate about growing the sport of bowling for all ages. “We’ve got our Men’s League, Mixed League, and Juniors,” Klassen shares. “We’d love to get our juniors program up and going stronger this fall.”
And the adult leagues? Still going strong. “Darren Klassen’s team took the championship this season, and Ed—who’s on that team—bowled a perfect game,” says Klassen. “I think Ed was pretty excited to get that perfect.”
A free summer of bowling, for kids
Through the Kids Bowl Free program, children can bowl two free games a day from May 1 to August 31.
“We are so excited to partner with the Kids Bowl Free program,” says Klassen. “You just go to valleybowlinglanes.ca, and there’s a link right there to sign up.” (Yes, you still have to rent shoes, but it’s a small price to pay for all that fun.)
Why kids love it
Young local bowlers, siblings Zach and Zoe Froese were quick to share their thoughts on why summer at VB’s is a blast.
Why should kids come bowl for free? “Because it is really fun.” Zach states. His favorite part? “When I get strikes… I think I’ve only gotten like one or two.”
Zoe, a fan of the whole building, chimed in, “I like the play structure.” And when asked what the best part is? “Everywhere,” she answered. VB’s has three slides, ball blasters, and endless room to play—even if you’re not into bowling just yet.
A perfectly cool summer escape
VB’s Entertainment Manager Morgan Wiebe knows what makes the centre a hit. “It’s the atmosphere we’ve cultivated here—play structure, mini golf, bowling, colored lights, music, arcades with prizes. It’s pretty much one gigantic party all the time.”
And when Manitoba summer heats up, it’s a solid escape. “The AC is perfect on a nice plus-35 day,” Wiebe laughed. His go-to cool-down treat? “Classic blue raspberry slushy. No question.”
Learn as you go
While the Kids Bowl Free program is just that—free—there’s more than just throwing a ball and hoping for the best. “You can track your progress through the app,” says Wiebe. “There are lessons built into it that teach step-by-step.”
And good news for parents who might need a few pointers of their own. You can download the app even if you're a "kid at heart".
