It's been many years in the making for Altona's Maxine Penner (Maxine Jade on-stage) when it comes to her debut album, titled "A Collection of Affection" it features many songs that started as poetry, which she later added music to, some songs that have been waiting to see the stage for years and some that are recent creations with the help of some musical friends.
The Inspiration for the Album
Maxine talks about the inspiration for the alum, "The inspiration or the heart behind this album was just like a love project unto the Lord, and I know it has been so valuable to me to be able to work on it and to whomever it may find, it's my heart that it would just like make a home in them and be the presence of love to move, move us to walk in love.
The intent of it was like love songs to and from the Lord and I I really like the Bible verse in Zephaniah 3 verse 17 where it talks about the Lord rejoicing over you is singing and so that's just something I have experienced is the Lord giving words of comfort and love and assurance and really a song over me and over us"
Plenty of musical friends
Maxine continued with who will all be joining her on stage in Neubergthal, "Paul Krahn, he is an amazing songwriter and musician, I heard him play this last this year and he will actually be doing his own solo set at the beginning of the night. So I'm really looking forward to that a lot. He has a wonderful presence and his writing is so unique.
Throughout the evening there will be 8 of us musicians, so I will have. Laura and Andrew, they'll be joining as well, my wonderful producers! Sierra Bergen, I went to high school with her and sang in choir, we had great blend, so she's got a great, great presence of joy and and beautiful voice.
And then. I'll also have Steven Reimer, he is a bass player, and I'm connected to him through our home church, so I've played with him a little bit in services, but never outside that space, so it's been really fun seeing him learn the parts and add his own flair, he's gonna be great. There's a few songs that kind of showcase the base a little bit.
We have Rafael Talavera and his daughter Brianna, he's from Venezuela. He's an amazing percussionist. He played in like a professional band in Venezuela, huge stadium concerts, so he is a very talented drummer and very passionate musician.
And I will also have Elias Dodson, who will be joining and I think that is it"
